Transfusion Medicine: CMC EQAS

The Transfusion Medicine module of the CMC-EQAS program was started in in 2005 with locally manufactured of survey samples. The module provides participants with an opportunity to evaluate their pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical phases of testing. Feeback regarding laboratory performance is given, an is aimed at enhancing laboratory competency, and at helping to ensure transfusion laboratory test results are accurate, reliable and comparable. The program has helped identify causes of unacceptable performance. Participation is on a voluntary basis and is open to all testing laboratories. Utmost confidentiality is maintained by the program.
